Coco&Coir Supporting CRY For A Brighter Future

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Protecting our environment for current and future generations is something that we at Coco&Coir have always been passionate about – but we also know that there should be no generation that cannot enjoy and thrive in the clean, eco-conscious future we want to see the world have.

That is why we have partnered with CRY – Child Rights and You – India’s most trusted non-governmental organisation to support underprivileged children and families at a grassroots level.

Every child should be able to have the opportunity to grow and be who they want to be. Just as the coconut tree grows tall and our flowers bloom, so too should children be nurtured and cared for to become our future. Coco&Coir is delighted to be able to support a cause that shares this value.

Why did Coco&Coir choose to partner with CRY?

Coco&Coir has strong roots based in India. The coconuts from which we make our products are grown in the south of India, where they are mainly used for the food industry. The ‘waste’ product – the husk – is what we take and turn into our exceptional growing media, coconut coir! We wanted to give back to the country where our products are manufactured, giving local communities support in addressing issues such as access to education, healthcare, and nutrition.

The work that CRY undertake in India is incredible. For 42 years, CRY has demonstrated its commitment to the empowering of children across India through multiple projects and has gathered support worldwide for its efforts. Over 3 million children have been affected by CRY’s projects from over 700 grassroots partnerships.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has brought even more challenges to communities that CRY are actively assisting with. Their initiatives include Project Gram Swaraj Sangh, ensuring better maternal health for marginalised tribal communities relief efforts by food distribution to families.

Knowing the importance of their work in giving children the support they need for a better life and opportunities to grow, Coco&Coir are proud to be able to support their causes with our fantastic customers and team.

How are Coco&Coir supporting CRY?

With each sale of a Coco&Coir product, our parent company Southern Trident will be making a direct contribution to CRY, with a minimum donation of £10,000 in 2021/22. That means that each time you purchase a Coco&Coir product, you are helping us contribute to CRY’s outstanding efforts to bring a better life to children in need in India.

Sustainability is not just something to be addressed in responsibly sourcing materials for our products and in the ways we recycle, reuse, and repair in our gardens. It means giving back to communities and sharing wealth and opportunity.

The more we share and give back, the better the world around us will be.

What can I do to support CRY?

It can be as simple as picking up a pack of Coco&Coir compost! Your purchase goes a long way – and not just in your garden.

If you would like to contribute more directly yourself or with your own organisation, visit their website for more about their work and how to get involved with making a difference to the lives of thousands of children.
